Purple Knights fall at Bentley

Waltham, Mass.-The University of Bridgeport men’s basketball team led host Bentley University, 43-38, at the halftime, but the host Falcons rallied in the second half to outscore the Purple Knights, 43-31, to notch an 81-74 non-conference win on Friday afternoon in the Bay State. With the loss, UB is 7-5 overall. Bentley moves its overall record to 5-7 with the victory.
Senior Kyle Benjamin (Bronx, N.Y.) led the Bridgeport attack on Friday recording his ninth double-double of the season, scoring a team-high 14 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
Three Purple Knights joined Benjamin in double-digit scoring, as sophomore Rakim Lesane (Coney Island, N.Y.) scored 13 points off the UB bench, and juniors Marc Campbell (Elmont, N.Y.) and Carlos DeJesus (Bronx, N.Y.), each chipped in 10 points.
Bentley’s Zach Gilpin led four Falcons in double figures with a game-high 22 points.
The Bridgeport men’s basketball team is right back in action tomorrow afternoon, as the team closes out a two-game road trip to Massachusetts with a non-conference contest at Stonehill College. Game time for the Purple Knights’ final game of the 2016 calendar year is set for 1:00 p.m.
