Brent Peterkin To discuss Project Longevity at Bridgeport Rotary Tuesday
Brent Peterkin is the Statewide Coordinator for Project Longevity which is Connecticut’s multi-city gang and violent group gun violence reduction initiative. Prior to joining Project Longevity Brent served the Office of Governor Dannel P. Malloy working in support of the Office of Early Childhood, worked with Yale University’s Global Justice Program initiative, Academics Stand Against Poverty and supported at risk students with emotional, behavioral and learning disabilities at Greenburgh Academy.
Prior to serving in the public sector and civic society Brent has also served as a small business accounts manager, customer service manager and business liaison in the natural and organic foods industry. Brent was appointed as a member of Governor Malloy's Youth and Urban Violence Commission and has spoken at several universities, community events, corrections facilities, high schools and middle schools in effort to inculcate a sense of change and commitment to non violence. He grew up in the Bronx, NY and has lost numerous friends to gun violence and incarceration for gun and drug related offenses.
Project Longevity has provided Brent with an opportunity to merge his professional and personal experiences in effort to inculcate a sense of community ownership over gun violence reduction in Connecticut. Brent earned his bachelor's degree in Legal and Policy Studies from Fordham University.
