The West Indian-American Association of Greater Bridgeport will hold its 10th Annual Caribbean Jerk
The West Indian-American Association of Greater Bridgeport, Inc. will hold its 10th Annual Caribbean Jerk Festival on Saturday, August 20th from 1 to 9 p.m. on McLevy Green in downtown Bridgeport.
Caribbean Jerk Fest is a celebration of West Indian culture, especially food and music. There will be West Indian Restaurants on site selling jerk chicken, jerk pork, curry goat, rice & peas, fish, patties and other cultural food. There will be dance performances by Neighborhood Studios of Fairfield County, Klein Dance Company and District 4.
Ruler Tone will serve as the Festival’s DJ again this year. Other musical performers include Jah Movement, Scrappy Ranks, Kool Riddums, Kalie Roselle, Orlando, Nia Jan-el, Nyck Muzik, Mr. Campbell Jungleman, Frass and Alicia Thompson.
Merchandise vendors such as ILuvBpt, Dwight Walker, J & S Fashions, Kingston Kafe-Kraft, Parker’s Pampering LLC, Rock m’ Kulture, Simple “SHE” Boutique, and Youngevity will be onsite selling items. Skyers, Skyers & Harrell Law Firm and Bridgeport Braces will also promote their businesses onsite. The Links will conduct voter’s registration.
There will be moon bounce and face painting for children. The Festival is designed for families to have fun while experiencing the West Indian culture and West Indies Emancipation Month Celebration.
The West Indian-American Association of Greater Bridgeport (WIAAGB) was founded in September 1997. WIAAGB is a non-profit 501(c3) tax exempt organization which serves as a beacon of hope in the Caribbean community. WIAAGB is a community oriented, social organization devoted to helping individuals and groups with limited resources and opportunities. We provide leadership in maintaining and fostering Caribbean culture and excellence in education in the greater Bridgeport region. The organization extend philanthropic assistance to needy individuals/groups in the USA, Caribbean and other parts of the world.
