Dr. Paul Broadie II to speak at Bridgeport Rotary luncheon on Tuesday
Dr. Paul Broadie II will serve as Rotary Club of Bridgeport Luncheon Speaker on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Bridgeport Holiday Inn. Dr. Paul Broadie II became the fifth president of Housatonic Community College in Bridgeport, CT on April.3, 2015. Dr. Broadie possesses twenty-four years of progressively responsible higher education experience at two comprehensive SUNY community colleges – a SUNY four-year college and a comprehensive private college. His record of achievements include the expansion of programs and services, the introduction of innovative technology, programming and services, leadership involvement with multiple capital building projects totaling approximately $97,000,000, direct involvement in the pursuit and oversight of awarded grants totaling in excess of $3,000,000, and the formation of several partnerships with community agencies and businesses.
President Broadie has experience in the following areas: Academic Affairs, Student Services, and Continuing and Professional Education. While employed in the area of Continuing and Professional Education, Dr. Broadie had the opportunity to partner with faculty, employers, and industry leaders to address the workforce development and personal enrichment needs of the community. His accomplishments include collaborating with faculty and employers to identify and develop innovative non-credit offerings that encompassed personal and professional enrichment courses and corporate training partnerships. He successfully increased enrollment and successfully worked with business leaders to develop training opportunities for their workforce. Most noteworthy was the receipt of fund from Local 1199 to provide training for its members and create a Certified Nursing Assistant program. He spearheaded preliminary discussions with local hospitals to offer and support the development of a Surgical Technology program.
Dr. Broadie firmly believes that the most important qualities of a leader is the ability to listen, provide the tools necessary to encourage individual and institutional success, and the ability to form partnerships with colleagues throughout the institution. Dr. Broadie is a member of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators and American College Personnel Association. President Broadie is a member of the following Honor Societies: Delta-Mu-Delta National Business Honor Society, Alpha Chi National Honor Society and Psi Kappa Psi Honor Society.
Dr. Broadie received his Ph.D. from Colorado State University, his M.B.A. from Long Island University and his B.S. in Business Administration from Mercy College.
At the present time, President Broadie serves on the boards of Bridgeport Higher Education Alliance, Bridgeport Public Education Fund, Bridgeport Regional Business Council, Phi Theta Kappa Advisory Board, the United Way of Fairfield Coastal County, and The Workplace, Inc.
