ISLANDERS RECALL JOHNSTON
Forward earns first NHL call-up
BRIDGEPORT – The New York Islanders announced today that the team has recalled forward Ross Johnston from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League.
Johnston, 21, has a goal and three assists to go along with 64 penalty minutes for the Sound Tigers this season. He scored his first and only goal in the AHL on October 16, the eventual game-winner against Providence.
Before signing with the Islanders to a three-year, entry-level deal on March 31, 2015, the Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island native had played in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League since 2011-12. The 6’5, 236-pound forward totaled 91 points (42 goals and 49 assists) in 195 games throughout his QMJHL career
