BRIDGEPORT -- For years, Fortuna’s Italian Deli and Restaurant was a Park City staple, a landmark in the North End where Bridgeport residents paraded to enjoy overstuffed deli sandwiches and delicious homemade meatballs.

When the deli vanished a few years ago, many fans were left scratching their heads. But Fortuna’s never left Bridgeport, it just changed direction. The great food is still here, but it is served up in a totally new venue that can bring the food directly to you.

The business is now thriving as Fortuna’s Catering Co., and it is providing great food to hungry customers all over Bridgeport and beyond.

“We strive to make our customers happy with great food and superb service,” owner Nancy Trifone Ferrarese said. “Fortuna’s has been providing quality food here for 40 years, and we are continuing to do that today.”

No event is too small or too large for these caterers. Ferrarese and company can handle a range from small dinner parties to large weddings with 400 guests. Another specialty of Fortuna’s is corporate events, such as business lunches or holiday parties.

When asked how she developed her knack for business, Ferrarese said, “As the only girl with four brothers it was always my job to plan and cook all of our holiday and family get-togethers and I loved it. I cater to my customers with the same passion.”

One of Fortuna’s many satisfied customers is the Fairfield Theater Company.

“The artists and crew are nothing but happy when Fortuna's is catering a show at the Fairfield Theater Company and Klein Auditorium,” said Lisa Olson of FTC.

Ferrarese said personal service is one of the main reasons for Fortuna’s success.

“We want to make things as easy as possible for the people planning the event," she said. "We will visit them at their home or office -- where ever they’d like.”
