U.B. women lose to Daeman Cpllege
Amherst, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women’s basketball team got off to a good start leading 17-15 after the first quarter, but the host Daemen College Wildcats would outscore the visiting Purple Knights in each of the following quarters to post an 88-70 East Coast Conference victory on Sunday afternoon. UB is now 7-14 overall and 5-8 in conference play. Daemen ups its overall record to 6-13, and the Wildcats are now 4-9 in the ECC.
Sophomore Aurelie Leblanc-Florent (Longueuil, Quebec, Canada) led Bridgeport in scoring with 17 points on Sunday, and she was joined in double figures by junior Evelyn Ovner (Vallentuna, Sweden) with 16 points, and freshman Kadijah Dickson (Queens, N.Y.) had 15 points.
Junior Louise Ovner (Vallentuna, Sweden) grabbed 10 rebounds for the Purple Knights and also contributed seven points.
Sarah Saba led Daemen scoring a game-high 25 points and taking down 10 rebounds for the winners.
The UB women’s basketball team will look to get back in the win column at home, Next Saturday, February 13, when the Purple Knights host the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds. Tip-off is slated for 1:00 p.m.
