U.B. cagers cruise past Roberts Wesleyan

Rochester, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport men’s basketball team won its third game in a row and picked up its eleventh win in its last fourteen outing with a 77-70 East Coast Conference road win over the host Roberts Wesleyan College Redhawks on Friday night in western New York. The Purple Knights are now 12-8 overall and 9-3 in conference play. RWC slips to 5-13 overall and 2-10 in the ECC.
Bridgeport senior Muhammed Ahmed (Bronx, N.Y.) led all scorers in the game with 21 points. He was joined in double-digit scoring by classmates Jesse Jones (Irvington, N.J.) and Devon Elliott (Brooklyn, N.Y.), who each netted 11 points for the winners.
Quinn Casey led four Roberts Wesleyan players in double figures with 14 points.
The UB men’s basketball team will close out its rugged, five-game road trip that will see the team play those five games in eight days on Sunday afternoon with a key East Coast Conference match-up at Daemen College in Amherst, N.Y., just outside of Buffalo.
