St. Vincent's to minister to the poor 10/17
St. Vincent's 'Medical Mission at Home' to Provide Free Healthcare, Social & Support Services to Neighbors Most in Need
WHAT: St. Vincent's Health Services will host its first "Medical Mission at Home." Volunteer medical staff and associates will offer medical exams and podiatry services, behavioral health services, connections to community providers, follow-up care, and more. All services will be offered free to individuals 18 years and older, and no insurance is required. St. Vincent's is among the first Ascension health ministries to conduct a Medical Mission at Home, which will concentrate on serving individuals who are homeless and un- or underinsured in our community.
BACKGROUND: The term "medical mission" refers to volunteer caregivers who travel to other countries to provide medical services. The St. Vincent's Medical Mission at Home, presented by St. Vincent's Medical Center Foundation, is designed to deliver healthcare, social and support services to neighbors in need right here in our own community.
St. Vincent's has proudly served the greater Bridgeport community for more than 112 years, and serves all who need care, regardless of their ability to pay. This Medical Mission at Home is an even deeper demonstration of the mission St. Vincent's is committed to - a mission that calls for "Healthcare That Leaves No One Behind."
