Sound Tigers close out preseason by bouncing archrival Hartford
SOUND TIGERS 3, WOLF PACK 1
CROMWELL – Carter Verhaeghe, Tyler Barnes and Jesse Graham all scored as the Bridgeport Sound Tigers downed the Hartford Wolf Pack 3-1 at Champions Skating Center in Cromwell.
It was the final test of the preseason for both teams, as Verhaeghe got the scoring started just 1:18 in. Sebastien Sylvestre worked the puck to the front of the net where Verhaeghe stuffed it through Magnus Hellburg to make it 1-0.
Barnes scored his goal in the middle frame, following up good play by his linemates Jesse Root and Josh Holmstrom. Graham finished the scoring for Bridgeport in the final frame.
Christopher Gibson started in net for Bridgeport, stopping all 16 shots he faced through two periods. The Sound Tigers went 0-for-1 on the lone power play they had, but went 4-for-4 on the penalty kill, including an extended 5-on-3.
The Sound Tigers open their season on Saturday, October 10 when they host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Tickets for the season opener, partial and season ticket plans are on sale now.
