FOSTER CALLS FOR ANTI VIOLENCE SUMMIT

The community must unite in the effort to put an end to senseless acts of violence

BRIDGEPORT – Mary Jane Foster today urged the Finch Administration to facilitate the formation of an anti violence summit to address the recent rash of violent shootings that is plaguing the city.

A frustrated Foster exclaimed that, "Now is the time to for focused leadership to start a real dialogue and create a comprehensive, strategic approach aimed at developing a city-wide plan."

Foster envisions the initial summit but more importantly a continuing comprehensive effort developed with input from all segments of the community.

The candidate suggested inviting church and community leaders, small business owners, representative from both local and state police forces, families and victims of violent crime and plain everyday citizens just damn tired of these senseless acts of violence.

Foster suggested that Mayor Finch and the city spearhead the effort to call for a truce in political posturing by taking advantage of family tragedies. "This needs to be a serious effort. If we need to initially exclude all candidates and their representatives to make sure we keep politics out then I'll sign on to that. But we need to act now before another drop of blood is shed," Foster concluded.

Mary- Jane Foster is an Independent Democratic Candidate in the General Election for Mayor of Bridgeport Connecticut. The General Election will be held on Tuesday November 3, 2015.
