Local Cancer Patients to be Honored and Remembered at The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light Th

STAMFORD – The Connecticut Westchester Hudson Valley Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) will hold its Fairfield County Light The Night evening fundraising Walk on Saturday, October 17th at Harbor Point, Commons Park in Stamford. Festivities begin at 5:00pm and the Walk begins at 7:00pm. The event also includes food, family activities, entertainment, and a fireworks show. More than 1,000 walkers are expected. Participants raise money to support blood cancer research and provide support services for patients and their families. Each Light The Night Walk honors local blood cancer survivors and commemorates individuals who have lost their lives to these diseases. The 2015 Fairfield County Honorees are Ryan Costa of Sandy Hook, a survivor of Pre-B acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and Anna Port of Danbury, also a survivor of Pre-B acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL).

Light The Night is a powerful and unique fundraising campaign that brings together families and communities to honor blood cancer survivors as well as those lost to the diseases. During this leisurely walk, participants carry illuminated lanterns - white for survivors, red for supporters and gold in memory of loved ones lost to blood cancer.

Since it began in 1999, the Light The Night Campaign has culminated in nearly 200 Walks across North America has helped LLS invest over $1 billion in research to advance breakthrough cancer treatments that are saving lives today.
